Numbrate Legal Information and Terms of Use

Welcome to Numbrate ("Numbrate," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our Websites (numbrate.com, my.numbrate.com), APIs, tools, the Sensitive Data Dedector for Google Sheets™ and Google Docs™, NUM2TEXT, CellEncrypt, TextEncrypt, CellArchiver, MobileRunner, Word Cloud Ultra Add-ons, Storywords, or any of our other products (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to these Terms of Use.

If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use our Services. We may modify these Terms at any time by posting updates. Continued use indicates acceptance.

1. Access and Use of Services

Numbrate may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We are not responsible for any downtime, unavailability, or loss that results from service interruptions.

All content, including code, graphics, and Add-ons, is owned by Numbrate or its licensors and protected by Swiss and international intellectual property laws.

2. NUM2TEXT Google Sheets™ Add-on

Converts numbers into words. Processing occurs locally; no spreadsheet content is stored or transmitted outside Google systems.

3. CellEncrypt Google Sheets™ Add-on

Provides password-based encryption. Encryption occurs locally. No passwords are stored permanently, and lost passwords cannot be recovered.

4. Sensitive Data Dedector for Google Sheets™ and Google Docs™

Detects and alerts on sensitive data based on built-in or user-defined rules. Sends email notifications to users when detection is enabled, sent directly from the user's Google Workspace account.

4.1 Overview

Sensitive Data Dedector is a detection and monitoring tool for Google Sheets and Google Docs that identifies sensitive information patterns (such as SSNs, credit cards, phone numbers, email addresses, IBAN codes, etc.) through real-time monitoring (Sheets only), scheduled scanning, and intelligent pattern matching with smart detection technology.

4.2 Platform-Specific Features

Google Sheets: Live detection on cell edits, scheduled scans, detection logging, reports & analytics, cell comments, and email alerts for new detections.
Google Docs: Scheduled scans, visual highlighting (yellow background), and email alerts for new detections.
Both Platforms: Smart detection (no repeat alerts), custom regex-based rules, manual scanning, and background scheduled scanning.

4.3 License and Trial

90-Day Free Trial: Full functionality is available for 90 days from the date of installation.
License Requirement: A valid license key is required to continue operations after the trial period.
Email-Specific: License keys are tied to a specific Google account email and are non-transferable.

4.4 Smart Detection Technology

Sensitive Data Dedector uses fingerprinting technology to track previously detected items. Email alerts and notifications are sent only for NEW detections, not for data that has already been identified. This eliminates alert fatigue while ensuring you're informed of actual changes to your documents.

4.5 Detection and Validation

Sensitive Data Dedector uses regular expression patterns and validation algorithms (including Luhn checksums for credit cards) to identify sensitive data. Detection accuracy depends on pattern configuration and data format. Users should validate detection results and adjust rules as needed.

4.6 User Responsibilities

Configuring detection rules appropriately for their specific use case and data types.
Reviewing and managing detection logs stored within their Google Sheets environment (Sheets only).
Understanding that the Add-on identifies patterns but does not automatically secure, encrypt, or remove sensitive data.
Ensuring compliance with applicable data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.) when handling detected sensitive information.
Managing email alert settings and being aware that alerts may contain references to detected sensitive data types.
Using the "Prune Resolved" feature to clean up logs and remove outdated detection entries (Sheets only).

Important: Sensitive Data Dedector is a detection and alerting tool only. It identifies potential sensitive data and notifies you of new findings, but does not encrypt, mask, or remove it. Users are responsible for taking appropriate action on detected data to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.

5. TextEncrypt Google Docs™ Add-on

Provides password-based text encryption for Google Docs. Features secure PBKDF2 key derivation and HMAC integrity checks.

5.1 Encryption & Security

Encryption occurs locally within the Google Docs environment. Your password is never stored or transmitted to any server. If you lose your password, the encrypted data cannot be recovered by Numbrate.

5.2 Data Storage

Encrypted data blobs are stored in the document's Script Properties. While encrypted, this data stays within the Google document infrastructure.

Critical Warning: Passwords are NOT recoverable. You are solely responsible for remembering your password. Numbrate cannot decrypt your data if the password is lost.

6. CellArchiver Google Sheets™ Add-on

Automatically copies cell values to history sheets. You are responsible for monitoring storage usage and managing license keys.

7. MobileRunner Google Sheets™ Add-on

Allows execution of scripts from mobile. You are responsible for ensuring that scripts triggered via MobileRunner are safe and do not cause data corruption.

8. Word Cloud Ultra Google Docs™ Add-on

Generates customizable word cloud visualizations from Google Docs text. All text processing and word cloud generation occurs locally in your browser.

7.1 Overview

Word Cloud Ultra is a visualization tool for Google Docs that creates beautiful word clouds from document text with customizable shapes, colors, fonts, and settings. The add-on analyzes word frequency and generates visual representations entirely within your browser environment.

7.2 Key Features

Text Sources: Extract text from entire document, current page, or selected text.
Customization: 8 unique shapes (Cloud, Rectangular, Circle, Star, Diamond, Oval, Tree, Lightning), 6 color palettes, 10+ premium fonts.
Export: Download word clouds as PNG images up to 3200x2400 pixels (premium feature).
Settings: Adjustable word count (20-500), font sizes, mixed orientation, and custom stopwords.

7.3 License and Trial

7-Day Free Trial: All premium features are available for 7 days from the date of installation.
Free Tier: After trial, basic features remain available (100 words, standard resolution, rectangular shape, random colors, Arial font).
Premium License: One-time payment provides lifetime access to all premium features including 500 words, high-resolution exports, all shapes, color palettes, fonts, and custom settings.
Email-Specific: License keys are tied to a specific Google account email and are non-transferable.

7.4 Processing and Privacy

Word Cloud Ultra processes all document text locally within your browser using client-side JavaScript. Text extraction, word frequency analysis, and word cloud rendering occur entirely in your Google Docs environment. No document content is transmitted to Numbrate servers or any third-party services.

7.5 User Responsibilities

Reviewing and verifying that generated word clouds accurately represent their document content.
Understanding that word frequency analysis may not capture context, sentiment, or nuanced meaning.
Ensuring appropriate use of custom stopwords to filter organization-specific or irrelevant terms.
Managing exported word cloud images and their use in compliance with copyright and intellectual property laws.
Verifying that word cloud visualizations do not inadvertently expose sensitive or confidential information.

Important: Word Cloud Ultra is a visualization tool for creative and analytical purposes. Word clouds provide a simplified representation of text frequency and do not capture full context, meaning, or relationships between words. Users should not rely solely on word clouds for critical analysis or decision-making without reviewing the original document text.

9. Storywords Google Chrome™ Add-on & Web App

An interactive game using browser-based speech-to-text. We do not guarantee speech recognition accuracy, which depends on browser and hardware limitations.

10. Disclaimers and Liability

The Services are provided "as is." Numbrate is not liable for:

Detection Accuracy: False positives or false negatives in sensitive data detection via Sensitive Data Dedector.
Data Security: Breaches or unauthorized access to data identified by Sensitive Data Dedector. The Add-on is a detection tool, not a security solution.
Compliance: Users' compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.) when handling detected sensitive information.
Smart Detection: Accuracy of fingerprinting technology or potential missed detections due to data modifications.
Email Notifications: Delivery or content of email alerts sent from users' Google accounts.
Visualization Accuracy: Accuracy or completeness of word cloud visualizations generated by Word Cloud Ultra, including word frequency analysis or stopword filtering.
Export Quality: Quality, resolution, or formatting of exported word cloud images.
Data Management: Incorrect archiving in CellArchiver or script errors in MobileRunner.
Lost Credentials: Lost passwords (CellEncrypt) or license keys.
Service Changes: Modifications to Google Workspace APIs that may affect Add-on functionality.

11. Intellectual Property

Word clouds and visualizations created using Word Cloud Ultra are owned by the user who generated them. However, users are responsible for ensuring that any exported word cloud images comply with copyright laws and do not infringe on third-party intellectual property rights when the source text contains copyrighted material.

12. Governing Law and Arbitration

These Terms are governed by Swiss law. All disputes must be brought in Swiss courts. We may require disputes to be resolved through binding arbitration.
