Numbrate Legal Information and Terms of Use

Welcome to Numbrate ("Numbrate," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our Websites (numbrate.com, my.numbrate.com), APIs, tools, TaskVault for Google Sheets™, Dark Mode for Google Sheets™ and Google Docs™, Dark Browser Chrome Extension, Document Sealer for Google Docs™ and Google Sheets™, the Sensitive Data Dedector for Google Sheets™ and Google Docs™, NUM2TEXT, CellEncrypt, TextEncrypt, CellArchiver, MobileRunner, Word Cloud Ultra Add-ons, Watermark 4Sheets for Google Sheets™, Storywords, or any of our other products (collectively, the "Services"), you agree to these Terms of Use.

If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use our Services. We may modify these Terms at any time by posting updates. Continued use indicates acceptance.

1. Access and Use of Services

Numbrate may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We are not responsible for any downtime, unavailability, or loss that results from service interruptions.

All content, including code, graphics, and Add-ons, is owned by Numbrate or its licensors and protected by Swiss and international intellectual property laws.

2. NUM2TEXT (Google Sheets™ and Google Docs™ Add-ons)

Converts numbers into words. Processing occurs locally; no spreadsheet or document content is stored or transmitted outside Google systems.

3. CellEncrypt Google Sheets™ Add-on

Provides password-based encryption. Encryption occurs locally. No passwords are stored permanently, and lost passwords cannot be recovered.

4. Sensitive Data Dedector for Google Sheets™ and Google Docs™

Detects and alerts on sensitive data based on built-in or user-defined rules. Sends email notifications to users when detection is enabled, sent directly from the user's Google Workspace account.

4.1 Overview

Sensitive Data Dedector is a detection and monitoring tool for Google Sheets and Google Docs that identifies sensitive information patterns (such as SSNs, credit cards, phone numbers, email addresses, IBAN codes, etc.) through real-time monitoring (Sheets only), scheduled scanning, and intelligent pattern matching with smart detection technology.

4.2 Platform-Specific Features

Google Sheets: Live detection on cell edits, scheduled scans, detection logging, reports & analytics, cell comments, and email alerts for new detections.
Google Docs: Scheduled scans, visual highlighting (yellow background), and email alerts for new detections.
Both Platforms: Smart detection (no repeat alerts), custom regex-based rules, manual scanning, and background scheduled scanning.

4.3 License and Trial

90-Day Free Trial: Full functionality is available for 90 days from the date of installation.
License Requirement: A valid license key is required to continue operations after the trial period.
Email-Specific: License keys are tied to a specific Google account email and are non-transferable.

4.4 Smart Detection Technology

Sensitive Data Dedector uses fingerprinting technology to track previously detected items. Email alerts and notifications are sent only for NEW detections, not for data that has already been identified. This eliminates alert fatigue while ensuring you're informed of actual changes to your documents.

4.5 Detection and Validation

Sensitive Data Dedector uses regular expression patterns and validation algorithms (including Luhn checksums for credit cards) to identify sensitive data. Detection accuracy depends on pattern configuration and data format. Users should validate detection results and adjust rules as needed.

4.6 User Responsibilities

Configuring detection rules appropriately for their specific use case and data types.
Reviewing and managing detection logs stored within their Google Sheets environment (Sheets only).
Understanding that the Add-on identifies patterns but does not automatically secure, encrypt, or remove sensitive data.
Ensuring compliance with applicable data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.) when handling detected sensitive information.
Managing email alert settings and being aware that alerts may contain references to detected sensitive data types.
Using the "Prune Resolved" feature to clean up logs and remove outdated detection entries (Sheets only).

Important: Sensitive Data Dedector is a detection and alerting tool only. It identifies potential sensitive data and notifies you of new findings, but does not encrypt, mask, or remove it. Users are responsible for taking appropriate action on detected data to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.

5. TextEncrypt Google Docs™ Add-on

Provides password-based text encryption for Google Docs. Features secure PBKDF2 key derivation and HMAC integrity checks.

5.1 Encryption & Security

Encryption occurs locally within the Google Docs environment. Your password is never stored or transmitted to any server. If you lose your password, the encrypted data cannot be recovered by Numbrate.

5.2 Data Storage

Encrypted data blobs are stored in the document's Script Properties. While encrypted, this data stays within the Google document infrastructure.

Critical Warning: Passwords are NOT recoverable. You are solely responsible for remembering your password. Numbrate cannot decrypt your data if the password is lost.

6. CellArchiver Google Sheets™ Add-on

Automatically copies cell values to history sheets. You are responsible for monitoring storage usage and managing license keys.

7. MobileRunner Google Sheets™ Add-on

Allows execution of scripts from mobile. You are responsible for ensuring that scripts triggered via MobileRunner are safe and do not cause data corruption.

8. Word Cloud Ultra Google Docs™ Add-on

Generates customizable word cloud visualizations from Google Docs text. All text processing and word cloud generation occurs locally in your browser.

8.1 Overview

Word Cloud Ultra is a visualization tool for Google Docs that creates beautiful word clouds from document text with customizable shapes, colors, fonts, and settings. The add-on analyzes word frequency and generates visual representations entirely within your browser environment.

8.2 Key Features

Text Sources: Extract text from entire document, current page, or selected text.
Customization: 8 unique shapes (Cloud, Rectangular, Circle, Star, Diamond, Oval, Tree, Lightning), 6 color palettes, 10+ premium fonts.
Export: Download word clouds as PNG images up to 3200x2400 pixels (premium feature).
Settings: Adjustable word count (20-500), font sizes, mixed orientation, and custom stopwords.

8.3 License and Trial

7-Day Free Trial: All premium features are available for 7 days from the date of installation.
Free Tier: After trial, basic features remain available (100 words, standard resolution, rectangular shape, random colors, Arial font).
Premium License: One-time payment provides lifetime access to all premium features including 500 words, high-resolution exports, all shapes, color palettes, fonts, and custom settings.
Email-Specific: License keys are tied to a specific Google account email and are non-transferable.

8.4 Processing and Privacy

Word Cloud Ultra processes all document text locally within your browser using client-side JavaScript. Text extraction, word frequency analysis, and word cloud rendering occur entirely in your Google Docs environment. No document content is transmitted to Numbrate servers or any third-party services.

8.5 User Responsibilities

Reviewing and verifying that generated word clouds accurately represent their document content.
Understanding that word frequency analysis may not capture context, sentiment, or nuanced meaning.
Ensuring appropriate use of custom stopwords to filter organization-specific or irrelevant terms.
Managing exported word cloud images and their use in compliance with copyright and intellectual property laws.
Verifying that word cloud visualizations do not inadvertently expose sensitive or confidential information.

Important: Word Cloud Ultra is a visualization tool for creative and analytical purposes. Word clouds provide a simplified representation of text frequency and do not capture full context, meaning, or relationships between words. Users should not rely solely on word clouds for critical analysis or decision-making without reviewing the original document text.

9. Document Sealer for Google Docs™ and Google Sheets™ Add-on

Document Sealer provides cryptographic tamper-evident sealing and verification for Google Docs and Google Sheets. All hashing, signing, and verification algorithms execute entirely within your Google account via Google Apps Script.

9.1 Overview & Architecture

Document Sealer computes a SHA-256 cryptographic digest of document content and signs it using HMAC-SHA256 with a private signing key stored in your document's ScriptProperties. Sealing embeds a visual verification seal into the Google Docs footer or creates a dedicated "Document Sealer Seal" sheet tab in Google Sheets. No document content, hashes, or signing keys are ever transmitted to Numbrate servers or any third-party infrastructure.

9.2 Always-Free Verification

Verification of any sealed document is completely free forever. Anyone with view or edit access to a document (including external clients, collaborators, and auditors) can verify whether the document currently matches its sealed state without purchasing a license, entering payment information, or validating an account.

9.3 Licensing & Sealing Capabilities

3-Day Free Trial: Full sealing functionality (creating and inserting new seals) is available for 3 days from the date of first activation.
Annual Subscription for Sealing: Creating new seals and embedding seals into documents after the trial period requires an active, paid license key from Gumroad.
Email-Specific: License keys are tied to the user's Google account email and are non-transferable.
Permission Constraints: Users with view-only access cannot create or insert seals into documents, as Google Workspace permissions restrict modifying headers, footers, or sheets. However, view-only users can always verify existing seals.

9.4 Physical Paper & Printed Copy Disclaimer

Document Sealer cryptographically seals and verifies digital documents within Google Docs and Google Sheets. While the embedded seal (including QR code and verification code) can be printed onto paper:

Physical paper cannot cryptographically protect itself against optical alterations, digital forgery (such as image manipulation of printed text while keeping a QR code intact), or physical tampering.
The live Google Doc or Google Sheet in the Google cloud remains the authoritative single source of truth.
Verification confirms whether the cloud document currently matches the exact state recorded at the time the cryptographic seal was generated.

Important Notice on Verification: A printed QR code or verification code directs the verifier to the digital document to compare live content against the cryptographic record. Physical printouts themselves cannot be cryptographically verified against optical forgery without comparing against the authoritative digital document.

9.5 User Responsibilities

Ensuring that document permissions are properly configured to prevent unauthorized edits to sealed documents.
Understanding that clearing document ScriptProperties or manually deleting the seal block will invalidate verification records stored within the document.
Retaining original documents and verification codes for auditing purposes.

10. Dark Mode for Google Sheets™ and Google Docs™ Add-on

Dark Mode applies designer dark and light color themes, page canvas styles, and subtle gridlines to Google Sheets spreadsheets and Google Docs documents. All styling operations run locally within your active Google Workspace session via Google Apps Script.

10.1 Overview & Visual Formatting Scope

Dark Mode modifies only visual styling attributes: cell background colors, text colors, spreadsheet borders, and document page setup background color. Dark Mode does not modify, delete, or recalculate mathematical formulas, sheet logic, script macros, or conditional formatting rules.

10.2 Licensing & Usage

3-Day Free Trial: Full access to all 10 designer color palettes, bulk override, gridline controls, and multi-sheet scopes is available for 3 days from initial activation.
Yearly Membership: Use of designer dark palettes after the 3-day free trial requires an active yearly membership license key purchased via Gumroad.
Account-Specific: Licenses are associated with your Google Workspace user account and are non-transferable.
Single Source of Truth: Dark Mode applies formatting directly to document elements. Anyone with view or edit permissions to the document will see the applied styling until toggled back to light mode.

10.3 Smart Color Preservation & Performance

The optional "Smart Color Preservation" features inspect text and cell formatting element-by-element to preserve custom highlight markers. Users acknowledge that element-by-element inspection is computationally slower than fast bulk mode (~50ms) on large sheets or extensive documents.

10.4 Disclaimer of Stylistic Warranties

While Dark Mode provides reversible light mode restoration, users are advised to test dark theme styling on copies of documents containing complex pre-existing custom color palettes. Numbrate is not liable for inadvertent color overrides resulting from bulk formatting operations.

11. Dark Browser Google Chrome™ & Chromium Extension

Dark Browser applies customizable dark mode CSS themes, live display filters (brightness, contrast, sepia, grayscale), and site-by-site domain rules across websites in Google Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, and Chromium browsers. All theme rendering and CSS engine operations run 100% locally inside your browser session.

11.1 Overview & Local Styling Scope

Dark Browser modifies only client-side presentation CSS styles in real time. Dark Browser does not track, collect, store, or transmit your browsing history, visited web URLs, page text, form data, or cookies. Injected style rules execute locally at document_start for zero-latency dark theme loading without white page flashes.

11.2 Licensing & Usage

3-Day Free Trial: Full access to all 10 designer color palettes, site-by-site domain controls, and live display filters is available for 3 days from initial installation.
Gumroad Membership License: Continuous access to designer dark palettes after the 3-day free trial requires an active license key purchased via Gumroad.
License Verification: License verification requires a lightweight external check to the Gumroad API (api.gumroad.com). No browsing data or website content is ever transmitted to Gumroad or Numbrate.

11.3 Smart Photo & Media Protection

Dark Browser includes intelligent media protection rules to prevent double-inversion on images, videos, vector SVGs, canvas elements, and HTML5 picture elements. Users acknowledge that third-party website structures vary, and site domain rules or filter sliders can be used to customize or bypass styling on specific web applications.

12. TaskVault for Google Sheets™ Add-on

TaskVault provides automated backup vaulting and an executive dashboard for Google Tasks™, Google Keep™-linked reminders, and Google Calendar™ events directly in Google Sheets. All vaulting, differential synchronization, and dashboard calculations execute locally within your Google Workspace session via Google Apps Script.

11.1 Read-Only Source Access & Data Integrity

TaskVault requests read-only permissions to Google Tasks (tasks.readonly) and Google Calendar (calendar.readonly). TaskVault does not create, modify, alter, or delete any tasks, reminders, or calendar events in your external Google accounts. It only reads task and event metadata to maintain an immutable archive copy in your designated Google Sheets spreadsheet.

11.2 Retention & Archival Recycle Bin

When an item is removed, completed, or deleted in Google Tasks or Google Keep, TaskVault safely retains the existing record in your spreadsheet with an "Archived" or "Completed" status so historical notes, tags, and timestamps are never accidentally destroyed.

11.3 Licensing & Usage

Always-Free Features: Viewing the dashboard, reviewing archived records, and using interactive Focus View dropdown filters are 100% free and require no license.
3-Day Free Trial: Full access to automated sync operations and 15-minute scheduled triggers is available for 3 days from initial activation.
Gumroad License: Continued automated synchronization after the 3-day trial requires an active license key purchased via Gumroad.
Two-Step Hard Reset: Wiping or resetting your archive vault requires explicit multi-step confirmation, including typing "RESET" in all capital letters.

11.4 Disclaimer of Third-Party Sync

TaskVault relies on Google Tasks, Google Calendar, and Google Keep linking APIs provided by Google. Numbrate is not responsible for API rate limits, connectivity disruptions, or schema changes imposed by Google Workspace services that may delay or interrupt scheduled synchronizations.

12. Storywords Google Chrome™ Add-on & Web App

An interactive game using browser-based speech-to-text. We do not guarantee speech recognition accuracy, which depends on browser and hardware limitations.

13. Watermark 4Sheets for Google Sheets™ Add-on

Watermark 4Sheets inserts a semi-transparent diagonal text watermark into Google Sheets spreadsheets as an image placed over the cell grid. The watermark image is generated locally in your browser (HTML Canvas) and inserted via Google Apps Script. No external image-generation service or server is used.

13.1 Overview & Scope of Changes

Watermark 4Sheets only inserts, updates, and removes the watermark images it creates, which it identifies by a unique marker in the image's alternative text. It does not write to cells and does not modify cell values, formulas, formatting, or other images in your spreadsheet. Watermark settings and placement metadata are stored in the spreadsheet's document properties.

13.2 Licensing & Usage

Free Trial Version: All features are available without a time limit. In the trial version, the suffix "-trial" is added to the watermark text (for example, "CONFIDENTIAL-trial").
Gumroad License: A valid license key purchased via Gumroad removes the "-trial" suffix from newly applied watermarks.
Removal Always Free: Removing watermarks created by the add-on never requires a license.
Account-Specific: Licenses are associated with your Google account and are non-transferable.
License Verification: License verification sends only your license key to the Gumroad API (api.gumroad.com). No spreadsheet content, watermark text, or image data is transmitted to Gumroad or Numbrate.

13.3 Placement, Printing & Export Limitations

The watermark is an over-grid image, not a native background. It may cover cells, is anchored to a cell, and does not automatically re-center when rows, columns, or zoom change. Watermark 4Sheets does not guarantee that the watermark appears on every printed page or PDF-exported page. Users are responsible for checking print preview and exports before distribution.

13.4 Not a Security Control

A watermark is a visual label only. It does not prevent copying, downloading, screenshots, or removal by users with edit access, and it must not be relied upon as an access control or data-protection mechanism. Numbrate is not liable for any disclosure, misuse, or removal of watermarked content.

14. Disclaimers and Liability

The Services are provided "as is." Numbrate is not liable for:

Detection Accuracy: False positives or false negatives in sensitive data detection via Sensitive Data Dedector.
Data Security: Breaches or unauthorized access to data identified by Sensitive Data Dedector. The Add-on is a detection tool, not a security solution.
Compliance: Users' compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.) when handling detected sensitive information.
Smart Detection: Accuracy of fingerprinting technology or potential missed detections due to data modifications.
Email Notifications: Delivery or content of email alerts sent from users' Google accounts.
Visualization Accuracy: Accuracy or completeness of word cloud visualizations generated by Word Cloud Ultra, including word frequency analysis or stopword filtering.
Export Quality: Quality, resolution, or formatting of exported word cloud images.
Physical Printout Tampering: Alterations, optical forgery, or manipulation made to physical paper printouts, photocopies, or downloaded PDFs containing printed seals. The digital Google Doc or Google Sheet is the sole authoritative reference.
Integrity Records: Invalidation of seal records caused by manual modification or deletion of document ScriptProperties or footer seals by users with edit permissions.
TaskVault Sync & Third-Party Services: Delays, rate limits, or schema modifications in Google Tasks, Keep reminders, or Calendar APIs. Users remain responsible for reviewing synced data records.
Data Management: Incorrect archiving in CellArchiver or script errors in MobileRunner.
Lost Credentials: Lost passwords (CellEncrypt) or license keys.
Service Changes: Modifications to Google Workspace APIs that may affect Add-on functionality.

15. Intellectual Property

Word clouds and visualizations created using Word Cloud Ultra are owned by the user who generated them. However, users are responsible for ensuring that any exported word cloud images comply with copyright laws and do not infringe on third-party intellectual property rights when the source text contains copyrighted material.

16. Governing Law and Arbitration

These Terms are governed by Swiss law. All disputes must be brought in Swiss courts. We may require disputes to be resolved through binding arbitration.
