Watermark 4Sheets
Mark sheets as CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, INTERNAL or anything you like. Watermark 4Sheets draws a semi-transparent diagonal text watermark and places it over your sheet in one click. Pick the color, opacity, angle and size, and see a live preview of your own data first.
Google Sheets™ has no built-in watermark. Watermark 4Sheets adds one without image editors or manual drawing.
Labelling a sheet as confidential or draft usually means awkward workarounds:
One sidebar handles the whole watermark lifecycle:
Three steps from a plain sheet to a watermarked one.
Open Extensions → Watermark 4Sheets → Open Watermark Sidebar and enter up to 100 characters.
Choose a color and adjust opacity, rotation and font size. The preview shows your own cells with column and row labels.
Apply to the active sheet or all sheets. Change your mind? Update or remove it in one click.
Every feature focuses on reliable watermark management without touching your data.
See the watermark over your sheet's real values, column widths and row heights, with A/B/C and 1/2/3 labels. Empty sheets show sample data.
Text color, opacity from 5% to 60%, rotation from -60° to +60°, and font size from 20 to 80 px. Subtle or bold, it's your choice.
Watermark one tab or the whole spreadsheet. For multi-sheet runs you get a clear report of which sheets succeeded and which didn't.
Each watermark carries a hidden marker. Updating swaps in the new watermark first and then removes the old one, so you never lose it halfway.
Remove removes only the watermarks the add-on created. Logos, charts and other images in your spreadsheet are left alone.
Highlight the range that prints with the default settings, then drag the watermark exactly where you want it before printing or exporting to PDF.
Watermark 4Sheets places the watermark as a semi-transparent image over the grid, centered near the top of your data (after any frozen rows and columns). It is not a native page background.
Before printing, click Show print area to see what will print, then drag the watermark into position. Clicking Update later puts it back in the default position.
The watermark is drawn in your browser and inserted with Google Apps Script. No external image service is involved.
All watermark work happens inside your browser and your Google Sheets™ session:
Requests only what the add-on needs:

Everything you need to know about Watermark 4Sheets.
No. Watermark 4Sheets never writes to cells. It only inserts, updates and removes its own watermark image, so your values, formulas and formatting stay exactly as they were.
No. Google Sheets™ has no native background watermark, so the watermark is a semi-transparent image placed over the grid. Because it is transparent, your data stays readable. Clicking on it selects the image, and you can drag it anywhere.
The watermark prints once, where it is placed. It does not repeat on every page. Use Show print area to see what will print, then drag the watermark where you want it before printing or exporting to PDF.
Google Sheets™ sometimes displays images added by add-ons only after the page is reloaded. Press F5 to refresh. Your watermark is already saved in the sheet.
Never. Every watermark created by the add-on carries a hidden marker. Remove and Update only act on images with that marker. Logos, charts and other pictures are left untouched.
The trial has no time limit and includes every feature. The only difference is that "-trial" is added to your watermark text (for example CONFIDENTIAL-trial). Activating a license removes the suffix from new watermarks. Click Update to refresh existing ones.
After purchasing from Gumroad (numbrate.gumroad.com/l/watermark), copy the license key from your receipt. In Google Sheets™, go to Extensions → Watermark 4Sheets → 🔑 License & Activation (or open the License tab in the sidebar), paste your key, and click Activate license.
No. A watermark is a visual label, not a security control. Anyone with edit access can move or delete it, and it cannot prevent copying, downloading or screenshots. Use Google Sheets™ sharing permissions to control access.
